Argon Gas

Compressed Gas Solutions supplies both liquid and compressed Argon. Argon is a colorless, odorless, inert gas. It is the fact that it is inert and will not burn at very high temperatures, that makes it particularly useful in many industrial processes. One of the most common industrial processes Argon is used in is MIG and TIG welding certain types of materials. The electrode of MIG and TIG welders gets extremely hot, so a small cloud of Argon gas is used to surround the electrode. This cloud of Argon gas serves to keep it from reacting with other substances and to avoid atmospheric contamination of the materials being welded.

Other uses for Argon include use as an inert gas filter for light bulbs, as a preservative, and as the least expensive substitute for Nitrogen in applications when a more inert gas is required. Argon is also used in the manufacturing process of Stainless steel and is used in graphite electric furnaces to keep the graphite from burning.
